Emma Buchanan, Doula

I'm Emma: lifelong follower of Christ, wife to my middle school sweetheart, mom to a rambunctious one year old boy, and lover of all things pregnancy, birth and postpartum. After my own birth and postpartum, it solidified my passion for birth-work. I love watching women go through the beautiful transition into motherhood. I am here to walk with you through all of the seasons of becoming a mom. Throughout labor and birth, I want you to be supported in the ways that you need! Whether it is physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, or all of the above. I am your biggest fan and cheerleader!

Pregnancy

My mission is to get to know you during pregnancy. I want to know your fears, labor and birth preferences, and most importantly: how I can best support you! Pregnancy can be full of uncertainties and difficult decisions. That is why I am here. I am not a medical professional, but I can provide supplemental education resources on topics that you want learn more about. From delayed cord clamping to golden hour to breastfeeding- I got you girl:)

Labor and Birth

When labor starts, I am only a call/text away. I will provide virtual support in early labor and transition to in person support when you need me. I will walk alongside you through every wave. As you work to bring your baby earth-side, I will assist in different comfort measures, labor positions, and coping mechanisms. I will stay with you until your baby is born and for a little while after to help you get settled in.

Postpartum

I will be available for any questions that you may have up to 6 weeks postpartum. I will come visit you and your family 1-3 weeks postpartum to chat about your birth and check on how you are doing, mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I will also help with breastfeeding if needed! Postpartum can be a challenging time. I want you to know that you are not alone!
